To what extent can choreography nowadays be viewed as a common social practice? With the media presentation of “personality” and “life” in social networks such as Twitter, Instagram or YouTube, but also with the increased choreographing of social, architectural and political spaces, everyday movements and actions are increasingly being transformed into a conscious performative action.

ALEXANDRA BACHZETIS sees herself explicitly as a choreographer who does not always appear in the performances which she has developed. Alexandra Blättler has worked with BACHZETIS several times (Shifting Identities, Kunsthaus Zürich 2008, Performative Structures – New Existentialism Part 1, Alte Fabrik Rapperswil-Jona 2010). Her short talk with screening about BACHZETIS’ work will act as a supplement to the exhibition. Dr Doris Krystof, who was responsible for the exhibition “MOVE – Art and Dance since the 60s” (2011), and dealt with aspects of reception control and the choreography of viewing in the series “Big Picture Video Exhibitions” (2011-2013), will discuss additional forms of choreography in artistic practice. Prof. Anette Jael Lehmann, who was involved in the research programme  “Cultures of the Performative”, will provide a historical digest of the tension which exists between political activism, direct experience, participation and cursoriness.
