In the 3rd workshop of the art education project “DIE AUSERWÄHLTEN-GenerationenArchivVideonale”, (The Chosen Ones – GenerationsArchivVideonale), working together with an art mediator and four artists, five groups of pupils (between 12 and 18 years old) from various types of school will undertake an intensive examination of video works presented at VIDEONALE.14. With their own performances, theatre productions and writings they will show how they respond to the artistic impulses which the works give them.

In addition to the workshops with children and adolescents, a one day training session for educationalists, artists and teachers will be held with particular emphasis on *“The mediation of video art using methods of creative writing”. Useful experiences and methods which result from the workshops will be shared with the participants, who can then use them in their own educational activities.

The workshops will be led by Annette Ziegert (art historian), together with Frank Heuel (director), Lothar Kittstein (author), Bettina Marugg (actress) and Lale Nalpantoglu (film maker and casting agent).

The idea behind the art education project “DIE AUSERWÄHLTEN-GenerationenArchivVideonale”, first held in 2008, is to help young people from different social fields to find their way to video art by letting them take part in seminars held over a period of weeks. In these, together with art experts, they examine video works presented at the Videonale and approach this art form from various perspectives.
