The exhibition at IZOLYATSIA consists of the works from the festival's 13th edition whose program was selected from 1776 applications received from 76 countries. The concept for an exhibition of “Videonale: Dialogue in Contemporary Video Art” first originated with the Videonale in Bonn, Germany, first held in 1984, and now in its 13th iteration. The exhibition was a pioneer in the genre. As a continuous, established art exhibition, Videonale has borne witness to points of transition in the history of video art.

Videonale on Tour Katowice, Poland 2011

 

From 18 May - 26 June 2011, Katowice hosted the Video Re:view festival, the first event of this scale in the region presenting the most important phenomena in video art. The main event of the festival is an exhibition of works from the 13th Bonn Videonale, one of the oldest video art biennials in Europe, well known for its talent-spotting capability and original ways of presenting videos.
